The Capri Tools Low Profile Ratchet is the go to ratchet that combines performance and versatility. It features a 72-tooth fine ratcheting gear, needing only 5 degrees of swing arc for each turn. The small swing arc is essential for working in narrow spots but also helps you get the job done faster. With a true single-pawl gear design, the ratchet has an unparalleled ratcheting mechanism that is a joy to use. It also allows us to construct the ratchet with a low profile so you can work in more places that have a small clearance. Anti-dust design seals out dusts and debris to protect the gear and maintain internal lubrication for sustained high performance over time. The ratcheting gears works in both directions with a flush mounted lever that you can switch with just a flip of your thumb. That ratchet has our flawless MaxChrome plating, achieved by thorough polishing and careful application of chrome protective plating, to ensure durability and corrosion resistance. This model has a 1/4 in. drive.

I am very pleased with my purchase. These meet all my requirements and expectations

I purchased each ratchet individually since the 3 piece set was not available at the time.
Right out of the box these ratchets are gorgeous, they have that sleek design that you see with the big truck brands, I am also fine with them not being quick release because sometimes working in tight spaces with quick release can be a pain and after speaking with the fine people at Capri, it seems they will be rolling out a bigger selection of ratchets of varying lengths, comfort grips, flex heads, etc.
These ratchets just feel good in your hand, and that for me is saying a lot because personally, I prefer the Snap-on or Mac Tools comfort grip over polished handles.
It is a fine-tooth ratchet and you can tell, I would like to see varying tooth counts in the new ratchets to come, but 72 teeth are perfectly fine. I wouldn’t say these compare to the Snap-on ratchets, these seem more like a mid-grade tool that would compete with the Gearwrench, Sunnex and those guys. Again that’s not knocking the Capri ratchets, but you wouldn’t expect a new product like this to knock the big tool truck brands off the totem pole right off the rip.
So after being extremely impressed with these ratchets I sent them to work with my buddy, he’s a mechanic that works on transit buses for BWI airport in Baltimore, Maryland.
So he loved them, but again he said they don’t really compare to his snap on and Cornwell ratchets but definitely prefers them over his gearwrench. He said he wouldn’t have these particular models replace his mainline ratchet for a few reasons. First off, his snap-on ratchets are tried and proven for a lot longer than a week ( Grant it, I was lending him these tools and he plans to buy his own for more testing). Second off, the length, neither he or I were fans of the length of the 1/4 inch ratchet nor the 3/8 we really just wish they were a tad longer, but they have their place in everyone’s toolbox. The 1/4 is great at getting to radiator hose clamps, because of the size, it definitely isn’t a mainline 1/4 inch ratchet that you would reach for endlessly but in that tight spot there isn’t anything better. The 3/8 just needs a tad more length but again it is very good in tight areas, my buddy said he would make it his go-to spark plug ratchet, these buses use Cummins engine converted to run on natural gas, so changing plugs is a common procedure and a low profile ratchet like this one makes the job a lot easier. The 1/2 inch was the least used but the 1/4 and 3/8 took everything he throws at it and I am currently swapping an engine and these have handled all the abuse so far.
All in all, you can’t beat the price. These are cheaper than the big box stores prices and these can survive in a professional setting. So for hobbyists this a must-have, they are cheap in price and they won’t let you down. The Warranty is also great and the customer service is fantastic, so if you do break something or get a defect, it’s super quick and easy to get a replacement. If you’re a pro, do not sleep on these, they could make a fine addition to your box for those certain situations and they won’t put a big dent in your pocketbook either. Keep up the great work Capri!!!!

I bought the 1/4 and 3/8 fixed head as well as a couple of the flex head ratchets and man these things are nice. Amazing quality control, they were all flawless and super tight ratcheting action. Best looking chrome out of all the ratchets I own. Not to mention i called to try to get faster shipping so I got these before the weekend and they upgraded me to 2 day shipping for free. Great ratchets and great customer service. Highly recommend!

1/2″ ratchet looks great, I like the short swing arc!

I’ve been a professional mechanic for 30 years so I know well made tools. The Capri 1/2” ratchet has excellent fit and finish and is a value for the price point.
The ONLY reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I like the handle on a 1/2” drive ratchet to be be longer that this Capri model has. I noticed that their flex head ratchets have longer handles and I think they should seriously consider lengthening the standard head 1/2” drive ratchet. On larger fasteners you need more handle length to bust the fasteners loose without having to resort to a cheater bar.

Great ratchets-(bought the set) work really well. Got all 3 for less than one ratchet off the tool trucks.

  10. jekjek1406 (verified owner)

I’ve purchased a lot of tools from Capri and the quallity is always higher than what I expect. These ratchets are in the same boat. The mechanism is smooth and crisp. Thanks Capri and keep on making/selling tools!

Great ratchet. I use it professionally almost everyday. It’s one of my go to ratchets. I’ve owned it now about 9 months. My coworkers like them too. It has held up amazing. I also like that it is a small company that I can support. I just placed another order with some other things too which I will review with use over time.

  12. christopherthomasfleming

The 3/8 ratchet has become my most used. Smooth functioning and a great finish!
