Founded in 2021 by Justin Hoskins, Jasper Motorsport understands how enthusiasm fuels vehicle maintenance, and it passes this on to each customer no matter what kind of car they drive.
A Lifelong Love of Cars
Hoskins received his first tool at the age of five and has been working in the automotive industry for 10 years. He said, “I love cars. I love driving cars, and I have always had a passion to make them go faster.” His favorite part of the job is seeing a customer’s face after drastic improvements have been made to their vehicle.
When he founded Jasper Motorsport, Hoskins wanted to create an independent shop to provide car lovers with a high level of service for an affordable price. His customers appreciate the shop’s commitment to detail and its efficiency.
Operating in Jasper, Indiana, the shop offers a much-needed service to residents in and around the area, particularly those who drive European cars. Many people who own BMWs, Volkswagens, and other European models can find it hard to locate a decent shop in their area with the expertise necessary to fix them.
Hoskins and his team at Jasper Motorsport love their cars and will openly debate their favorites with shop patrons and with each other. When it comes to engines, Hoskins said his favorite kind to work on is “anything that is well-built and fast.”
Building A Community
After opening Jasper Motorsport in 2021, Hoskins started sharing car-related content through Instagram and Facebook on the company’s business accounts. Most of the videos are very detailed, walking viewers through simple and complex repairs.
Each video offers a straightforward narration so car newbies can learn how to make simple fixes themselves. In one video, Jasper Motorsport takes viewers through an oil change, noting how to do it correctly so you don’t ruin your engine.
One of Hoskins’ favorite aspects of owning a mechanical shop is that he gets to help people, and the shop’s social media presence is an extension of this part of his personality. He didn’t start the company’s social media pages with the goal of taking off.
He said, “It honestly happened overnight. I was posting videos of Jasper Motorsport working on cars every now and then, and then all of the sudden one of my videos had a million views. It was definitely a game changer, and I am very thankful for all of the people that watch our videos.”

USING THE RIGHT TOOLS
Since Hoskins and the Jasper Motorsport crew work on many different types of cars, they need the right tools. Many of them are Capri Tools, including Hoskins’ favorite, the 3/8 ratchet and the blow gun, which he and his crew use often in their shop. His first tool was an adjustable wrench.
Capri Tools make cameos on the Jasper Motorsport Instagram in reviews and repair videos. Hoskins likes the quality and that Capri Tools is innovative. In one video, he explores the range of impact sockets, which offer more sizes than other sets—particularly useful for working on European cars with different-sized components.
Hoskins likes to bring viewers into the shop with him, showcasing tools in action, which is great for people who are just getting to know the world of car repair and maintenance.

As owner of Jasper Motorsport, Hoskins oversees a team of talented mechanics, including up-and-comers in the industry. He cautions them to be detail-oriented and notes that one of his least favorite parts of the job is diagnostics. He said, “The diagnostic part of being a mechanic is sometimes really tough and takes a lot of concentration. One break in that concentration and you have to start all over.”

For those interested in the automotive field, Hoskins recommends getting a job in a good shop and doing a lot of hands-on work. He also says that mechanics need strong computer and communication skills to be successful in the industry.
