Meet Andy Hauser
Andy Hauser, a man of many hats, runs Team Marine Service and is well known for his straight-shooting insight. As the owner, CEO, and lead technician at Team Marine Service, he’s made it his mission to bring transparency and flavor to the marine industry.
His Start in Boat Repair
It all started with Andy’s first boat. Being young and inexperienced with boat mechanics, he blew up his first outboard motor — and didn’t have the money to fix it. Thanks to some tough love from his father, Andy realized that if he wanted his boat to run again, he had better learn how to fix the motor himself. In doing so, he discovered that he enjoyed taking the motor apart to figure out the problem, fixing it, and putting it back together. When the engine started again, he was hooked for life.
Assembling Team Marine
Andy fixed his first boat motor more than 20 years ago, and he has been recruiting others with as much, if not more, experience than himself to round out the Team Marine crew. Everyone loves what they do and takes great pride in finding the problem and fixing it right.
While the crew focuses much of its energy on repairing boat engines, the Team Marine technicians also enjoy working on other types of vehicles, like the trailers used to haul boats around. They will work on any vehicle related to the marine industry, whether it travels on land or the water.
Andy’s favorite boats to work on are bass boats. He takes pride in the fact that boaters in his area refer to his place as the go-to bass boat performance shop.
Why Boats?
Andy’s reason for picking boats? His “passion for speed and no brakes.” His shop’s popular YouTube channel echoes his sentiment. Its slogan is, “Speed, Money & No Brakes!”
If he weren’t working on boats, Andy believes he would still be spending his time working with engines and the vehicles they power, whether it be automobiles, motorcycles, or snowmobiles — anywhere creativity and innovation come together to make things go.
The Rewards of Working on Boats
For Andy, the best part of working on boats is the satisfaction he gets from a successful repair. He sees it as a mystery that needs to be solved. He must use his skill and his talent to find the origin of the problem and then come up with a solution to that problem. In the end, seeing a customer leave happy — particularly one who comes in frustrated and without much hope that the problem could be solved — is a great reward.
The only downside Andy sees to his job is dealing with the occasional difficult customer, but he’s built a great community on YouTube with tens of thousands of loyal subscribers (and nearly 3 million views).
A Day at the Shop
Andy’s Team Marine Service shop is never idle. They have six technicians, all of whom may be working on different boats in the shop simultaneously. Talk about controlled chaos! At any given time, there may be six motors running simultaneously and many people shouting to be heard over the noise. A typical day at Team Marine Service is filled with noise, smoke, harsh language, tools hurling around in frustration, and, of course, successful repairs.

“Curiosity and an open mind. You should have a willingness to always want to learn. No matter how well you understand today’s engines, things change rapidly, especially if new technology is involved. If you are unwilling to stay current on all the changes, you will get left behind.
With that, you should always come to work and be open-minded. When you first encounter a rig with a problem, you have to be willing to consider all possibilities and see the problem from every direction. Attacking a new repair with a preconceived notion of the problem will likely result in wasted time and energy.”
Industry Achievement
“I could list a few specific repairs that I am proud of, but the truth is, I would say one of my greatest achievements within the industry is my YouTube channel. Not only do we enjoy making them, but I am always amazed at how many people are watching and how much they gain by doing so. We have taken calls from people all over the world who tell us how appreciative they are of what we do. From the frigid northern regions of Nunavut, Canada, to the Northern Mariana Islands, people from around the world tell us daily how much of an impact we make on their lives. It blows me away every single day, and I’m extremely humbled by it.”
